YouTube Premium is the official way to watch videos without ads so that Creators can continue to earn money from their work. There has long been an effort to avoid paying for the ad-free subscription, but “YouTube Vanced” is now closing down.
However Vanced YouTube is a premium moded version of the official YouTube app that offers YouTube premium offering paid free to Google YouTube customers which has resulted to users opt in for this choice as their favourite YouTube app instead of the the official version from Google YouTube.
YouTube Vanced (Premium)
On Sunday morning, the team behind this project announced that “Vanced has been discontinued.”
The download links on the website will be removed in the coming days. We understand that this is not what you wanted to hear, but it is something we must do. Thank you for all of your help over the years.
Content creators have long considered this app to be unethical, in line with the larger web ad blocker debate. Vanced distributed an unofficial app, primarily on Android.
In legal terms this was an unofficial method of watching YouTube as it goes without the display of ads avoiding the required payment of the $11.99 subscription In exchange for ad revenue.
YouTube Premium gives creators a portion of the monthly fee. In addition to the ads served by YouTube that appear before and during a video, sponsor segments that are natively integrated and spoken by creators could be skipped over.
A user-generated allow list for channels was, however, available. Meanwhile, advertisements in the Home tab, as well as those related to merchandise and movie and TV purchases, could be turned off. Meanwhile, Vanced, which altered the official YouTube app to include the adblocker, added other premium features such as background play and free picture-in-picture (PiP). The app also has an AMOLED black theme, swipe brightness and volume controls, and the ability to record videos.
What The Developers Say
According to the developers of YouTube Vanced the shutdown is been carried out as a result of legal proceed ” it is done due to legal reasons” . However, on the Vanced official Telegram channel, alongside a Reddit comment adds that they “had to do it.
In the coming days, there will be no more updates, and the download links will be removed. It’s unclear whether YouTube will take any action to disable current usage or access.
You don’t have to know why this had to happen; considering we had to do it, you can probably figure it out on your own.-Vanced
