Xiaomi Introduces Mi Air Wireless Charging Technology- Future Of Wireless Charging System
In an early tweet this morning, Xiaomi announced on twitter of its wireless remote charging system call the Mi Air Charge Technology. Where the company stated that “remote charging system” can charge multiple devices simultaneously and will thus recharge a smartphone that’s being used, “while walking around or even when something’s in the way”.

Xiaomi mentioned how the technology would work in a blog publication, saying that The transmitter looks quite large, as large as perhaps a living room side-table next to a couch. The transmitter can provide a 5W charge wirelessly to a smartphone.
This system of charging has nothing to do with the Qi standard, the smartphones need to be outfitted with a “miniaturized antenna array with built-in ‘beacon antenna’ and ‘receiving antenna array’.” The smartphone has 14 antennas to convert a millimeter wave signal that’s emitted by the charging pile. The signal is converted into electric energy through a rectifier circuit.
The company’s remote charging technology can charge multiple devices with a 5W current within a radius of “several meters”. Xiaomi confirmed that physical objects doesn’t reduce or obstruct the the charging efficiency, but this must have some caveats.

Not long ago as at April 2020 Oppo showcased such similar tech in a demonstration video featuring a charging orb that beamed a charging signal to the Oppo Reno Ace Infinity, which was outfitted with receiving antennas throughout the frame. Oppo called it the FreeVOOC Air charging but it never materialized past the teasing stage.
In line with that, we are yet to get a receive date Xiaomi for the Mi Air Charging technology. Thus, we are not sure if this will ever become a reality and the Mi Air Charge system will make it to the sales market or just tease technology (Showcase).
