Most new top-end smartphones are massive. Tiny phones aren’t typically as popular as larger ones, as proven by the iPhone 12 mini’s dismal sales and the paucity of choices for smaller mobiles on the market.
One of the oddities of this tendency is the lowest-end Samsung Galaxy S phone each year, but official Xiaomi 12 news implies the forthcoming Galaxy S22 might have close competition.
Ahead of the formal debut on December 28, Xiaomi has been teasing details about its new family of smartphones, and on Chinese social media network Weibo, it was announced that the Xiaomi 12 will sport a 6.28-inch screen.
That’s downright minuscule compared to the Xiaomi Mi 11’s 6.81-inch display. In the article, Xiaomi likened it to the 6.1-inch iPhone 13.
Since we’re anticipating the Xiaomi 12 to launch with a similar-design sister, there might still be a huge mobile launch, but we now know the base model will be fairly modest.
We’re anticipating the Galaxy S22 to clock in at 6.2 inches too, as that was the S21’s size and Samsung doesn’t vary too much between generations. So although one of the key distinctions between Xiaomi and Samsung’s 2021 phones was screen size, that doesn’t seem to be the case for 2022.
