WhatsApp will soon enable a Payment Verification feature for its Pay Users in a bid to strengthen its payment system. This means that users already using the Messenger payment service will soon be required to pass through a verification process before initiating payments through its pay service on the app.
Prior now, users only need to verify their phone number associated with their bank account when setting up WhatsApp Pay in India to initiate any transaction based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). However, in Brazil, WhatsApp Pay Service uses its Facebook Payment feature to verify users’ credit or debit cards to originate payments.
Meanwhile, this intend update has not been inculcated into the app yet, but reports shows that this might change very soon given that in the new coding lines of WhatsApp v188.8.131.52 beta there are several traces of codes that intends users may be required to upload copies of identification documents in order to continue using the payment feature.
