As earlier announced some time last year that WhatsApp is working on a new update for WhatsApp Desktop and that includes bringing voice and video calling feature to PC users.
Well that feature has been actualized. WhatsApp users can now make one-to-one voice and video calls directly from their desktop or PC. This feature which was long available on mobile devices only. The bringing of WhatsApp calling feature to desktop or PC will now make it easier to see family and friends more clearly as well as work with colleagues more comfortably on a larger screen.
In blogpost publish by WhatsApp Inc which says “With so many people still apart from their loved ones, and adjusting to new ways of working, we want conversations on WhatsApp to feel as close to in-person as possible, regardless of where you are in the world or the tech you’re using.,”
This is great right? As since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, so many significant uptick have showcased in people using voice features on social networks which happens most often on long conversations. Meanwhile, On New Year’s Eve, The Social giant company broke the record for most calls ever made in a single day, recording a whole 1.4 billion audio and video calls.
However, according to WhatsApp stating further in the blogpost “To make desktop calling more useful, we made sure it works seamlessly for both portrait and landscape orientation, appears in a resizable standalone window on your computer screen, and is set to be always on top so you never lose your video chats in a browser tab or stack of open windows.“
Meanwhile, the voice and Video call rollout begins with end-to-end encrypted one-to-one communication, “so we can make sure we can give you a reliable and high-quality experience,” they continued on the post. Though, the company says group voice and video calls to roll out “in the future.”
