Twitter Working on “Twitter Article” Feature That Would Allow Full Length Context Publishment
the firm is experimenting with new methods to enable users to publish lengthier texts through a new tool dubbed “Twitter Articles.”

Twitter has long been recognised for its 140-character tweet restriction, which was increased to 280 in 2017. However, it seems as if the firm is experimenting with new methods to enable users to publish lengthier texts through a new tool dubbed “Twitter Articles.”
The function was uncovered for the first time by app researcher Jane Wong, who demonstrated a secret menu on the social network’s website devoted to the new Articles feature. While there are no specifics on how Twitter Essays will operate, it is assumed that users will be able to create whole articles on the social network without being limited to 280 characters.
According to Wong’s screenshot, users would have the ability to “Create a Twitter Article,” implying that the tool will not be limited to particular types of accounts.
In 2020, the social network added a new feature called “continuous threads” that allows users to link many tweets to the same topic. However, even for threads, the 280-character restriction per tweet applies.

A Twitter spokeswoman confirmed to CNET that the company would provide further information regarding Twitter Articles in the near future.
However, if Twitter does truly allow users to publish lengthier articles on the social network, this might be seen as a direct challenge to other blogging services such as Medium. Additionally, we do not know how the social network will commercialise content, but it would not be surprising if lengthier texts are reserved for Super Followers or Twitter Blue members.
The one certainty is that, with over 200 million users, Twitter clearly has much to gain by launching an article publishing platform.
