Keynotes

  • Today’s event co-hosted by SpaceX and T-Mobile, the Starlink satellite internet service and 5G may be merged.
  • SpaceX and T-Mobile will conduct a news conference on Thursday at 8:00 PM ET to explain their plans to “increase connectivity.”
  • SpaceX’s Starbase launch site in South Texas will host the event.

The Starlink satellite internet service and 5G might be combined during an event hosted by SpaceX and T-Mobile today.

At 8 PM ET on Thursday, SpaceX and T-Mobile will hold a press conference to discuss their ambitions to “improve connectivity.” The event will take place at SpaceX’s Starbase launch facility in South Texas, where a Starship prototype was just put on the launchpad and will include presentations from both SpaceX “chief engineer” Elon Musk and T-Mobile CEO and president Mike Sievert.

Elon Musk report on Twitter

While details beyond that are few, Musk has previously hinted that the event would be “something exceptional.” There is a live connection to the broadcast now.

There has been so little information released that it is difficult to speculate on the nature of the talks between the two corporations. Maybe it’s news about the availability of a certain frequency range. Is a merger between Starlink and T-Mobile to improve the latter’s inadequate home internet service and the overburdened connections available through Starlink in rural areas? Is T-Mobile in on this SpaceX thing? In order to find out, we’ll have to watch the programme.
