Sony To End PlayStation 4 Communities Support

Sony has stated out it decision to end support of the PS4 Communities feature. In a mail sent out to certain users stated that this decision will take effects come April 2021.

However, the PS4 communities was a way for gamers to stay in touch with their friends and fellow gamers as well, moreover It also allowed users to create game groups and discuss about various game related topics such as a favorite games.

The company sent out an email to many of its users confirming the service will be terminated coming month. Meanwhile, this was far expected since the Communities feature was removed in the PS4 8.5 firmware beta few weeks ago.

In a written statement from Sony with regards to the matter stated that:

Thank you for using the Communities feature on your PlayStation®4 console. Beginning in April 2021, this feature will no longer be supported or available on your PS4™ console. However, you will still be able to stay connected and enjoy messaging features and more on your PS4™ console and PlayStation®App.

As we well knw, the PS5 as at launch didn’t come with Communities feature which was a bright sign that the company perhaps didn’t like the feature. Meanwhile, it has been further  speculated that Communities might now be replaced with Discord integration. This thus  make sense because most people especially gamers use Discord and it’s easier for people to use.

Moreover, in the main time, we are expected to wait and see what Sony does in the near future. You can still message your friends using the PS4 and PlayStation App as aforementioned above.
