Amazon Prime Video is apparently in discussions with Sony to make a live-action series based on the God of War games.
According to a report from Deadline, the series is set to be helmed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby, the executive producers of The Expanse, as well as Rafe Judkins, the executive producer of The Wheel of Time. Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions will also be participating.
Details regarding the show’s idea are still limited, but if the television version does come to fruition, producers will have a lot of material to cover. God of War’s intricate Greek-inspired backstory (where you play as the deity Kratos) began back in 2005 with the release of the first game for PlayStation 2. The series is now on its eighth instalment, God of War: Ragnarok, which is scheduled for early this year and has shifted its setting to the Norse realm of Midgard.

Sony has signed many partnerships to adapt some of its most successful games into TV shows and movies. And if you were wanting to see all of this new programming in one place, you’re going to be disappointed – each show is signed to a different streaming network, and its movies will screen in cinemas (at least at the time of their first release).
Other Projects
Sony most recently signed off on a live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal on Peacock. There’s also the impending Ghost of Tsushima movie from the same filmmaker behind John Wick, an HBO-exclusive remake of The Last of Us, and, of course, the newly-released Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland, which earned rather mixed reviews.
