Apple released iOS 16 to the public a few weeks back, and the update no doubt introduced a number of new features, including a customizable lock screen, extensive revisions to Messages, and enhanced functionality in Maps; however, it also introduced a number of bugs, performance issues, battery drain, and other issues.

It’s normal for some users to report problems after a major iOS update, but reports of problems tend to die down in the days following the release. However, this year has been different, as users have been reporting numerous issues with iOS 16 on a daily basis.

While iOS 16.0 was released for all compatible iPhones, an iOS 16.0.1 update was available on launch day to fix some issues with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. iOS 16.0.2 was released by Apple last week, fixing issues like camera shake on the iPhone 14 Pro and a bothersome copy and paste prompt. Several issues that were supposed to be fixed in iOS 16.0.1 and iOS 16.0.2 still exist. You can find some examples below:

Some iPhone displays flicker in dark spots at low brightness after updating to iOS 16, and this issue may affect older models as well as the iPhone 14 Pro (1,2,3,4)

We have seen no evidence of iOS 16.0.3 in our analytics, so it is unknown if Apple plans to release yet another iOS 16 update before iOS 16.1 is released next month. Developers and public beta testers are currently working with Apple on iOS 16.1, but the official release isn’t expected until October, possibly alongside iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura. Customers who contact Apple Support are advised to restart their iPhones or, in the worst-case scenario, restore them.
