Airtel, in a bid to help customers connect with friends and families both at home and in Ukraine, today announced free international calls for customers affected by the Russia-Ukraine wars. Furthermore, this offer is available to all existing prepaid and postpaid customers in Nigeria.
The company made this public earlier this afternoon on its Facebook official page, saying: “For anyone who wants to contact their loved ones in Ukraine, we have made calls to that region free.”
“We are making international calls to Ukraine free of charge to all Airtel subscribers to enable you to connect with your loved ones.” -Airtel
According to the statement, each existing prepaid and postpaid Airtel subscriber will be able to reach out to their loved ones over voice calls for free. However, this comes shortly after other telecom companies in the United States have already done the same to ease the flow of communication into the country (Ukraine) as a bid to show their support.
It is heartwarming to know that during this time of crisis for those in Ukraine and families affected by the ongoing war in the country, the world’s leading telecom giants are all coming together in unity to support Ukraine.
