February OTA Update Android 12L

The official release of Android 12L is slated for sometime next month, although the beta version is already extremely stable. It is, however, not yet available to Pixel 6 and 6 Pro owners who have already updated their devices. One more Android 12L build is expected from Google in March.

The February security patch for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro was updated by Google on Thursday a 10MB update but it doesn’t appear to have made any significant changes. A large number of users have received this update via OTA over the last few days.

After installing, people who have updated their Pixel 6 to Android 12L Beta 3 have been unable to do so. Even after 24 hours of registering their smartphone at Google Android 12 beta page, the OTA still hasn’t arrived. However, a confirmed report stated yesterday that this is not a problem, but rather a restriction owing to the February fix being the most recent:

It’s possible that if you’re enrolling a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro on the current February version SQ1D.220205.004, you won’t get an update to 12L Beta 3, but you will get the next forthcoming beta build release in March.

The OTA cannot be sideloaded manually and will fail to install as a result. In the meantime, Google claims that Pixel 6 phones that have been fully updated will be able to install a “upcoming beta build release in March.” Beta 4 of Android 12L is not a release candidate (RC), but rather a Beta 4. (or anything similar). As the Android Beta Program comes to an end and the Android 13 Beta begins in April, we could see it as soon as next week.

The wait for Pixel 6 owners should be brief, but those who want the Wi-Fi updates and other improvements in Android 12L Beta 3 will find it frustrating.
