According to the official video, two Motorola Edge smartphones (likely modified for the test) are placed in a standing position 80 cm and 100 cm away from the charger, respectively. They immediately start to fill up the battery, but once a person places his hand on the charger, the process stopped as it was obstructed.

The charger apparently is called Motorola One Hyper and while the technology is based on the Qi standard, Helo Moto said it is actually better. There could be several phones, which can be charged simultaneously, but in the report video, the company didn’t state and actual number including the fact of the  charging rate of the device, whether or not  all connected devices  could have the same charging speed or one likely to oversee the other.

The company also stated that this is “the right way to do wireless charging” and while it might sound like a dig to Xiaomi with its ottoman-size charger for wearables, it is more likely the company wants the industry to move to a greater height  from the option of  the smartphone constantly resting  next to a charger.
