Because Google Chrome is the most popular browser in the world, Microsoft and others are working hard to make an impact in the market.

Microsoft Edge was rebuilt on the same foundation as Chrome last year, and it’s fantastic, but Microsoft is once again aggressively attempting to prevent users from installing Google Chrome on Windows. Microsoft’s newest attempt to dissuade people from using Chrome is very passive and hostile.

According to Windows Latest, Microsoft Edge, the default browser included with Windows 10 and Windows 11, now displays a pop-up attempting to keep users on the Edge browser rather than switching to Google.

This is the latest in a long line of measures by Microsoft to promote its Edge browser over Google Chrome and other competitors. One of the most recent instances is Windows 11, which makes it difficult for users to alter the default browser by having default browsers for every potential operation rather than a single setting. Last year, Microsoft forcibly installed its new Edge browser on Windows with a full-page pop-up that enraged many users.

However, the trigger obviously criticises Google’s privacy and data rules, which have come under fire in recent years. Google, for example, has placed alerts in Chrome to prevent people from switching to Edge.
