Apple last week, introduced iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 to the public, and one significant update is the inclusion of a “Scan Text” shortcut for swiftly scanning printed or handwritten text into the Notes app on the iPhone and iPad.
Apple just posted a video with step-by-step instructions on how to use the Scan Text function. On a device running iOS 15.4 or iPadOS 15.4, just launch the Notes app, hit the camera icon, select “Scan Text,” then tap the insert button after the text has been added to the note. The “Scan Text” shortcut has also been introduced to the Reminders app.
iOS 15.4 Scan Text Feature
Earlier versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 required touching on a note’s text field and then tapping the Live Text icon to scan text into the Notes app.
Other new features in iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 include the ability to use Face ID to unlock an iPhone 12 or newer while wearing a mask, Universal Control on compatible iPad models, dozens of new emoji, a new Siri voice option, the ability to initiate SharePlay sessions directly from supported apps, and more.
