  2. Tap on the three vertical dots on the top right corner
  3. Click on ‘Settings
  4. From the options click on ‘Data and storage usage’
  5. Three options will be displayed to you — ‘When using mobile data‘, ‘When connected on Wi-Fi’, and ‘When roaming’
  6. Now, disable all the media from all three categories manually.
To prevent media files from downloading in one’s chat For Android

 

  1. Open the person’s chat
  2. Tap on the three dots in the top right-hand corner
  3. Tap “View contact
  4. At the bottom there should be a option called “Media visibility
  5. Now, choose ‘No’.
  6. Then you are done

How To Stop WhatsApp From Downloading Media Files on iPhone Automatically

 

  1. Launch your iPhone WhatsApp app
  2. Tap the Settings icon at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Click on Chat Settings.
  4. Now, swipe the toggle off the Save Incoming Media option so that it is no longer green.
To prevent media files from downloading in one’s chat For iPhone:
  1. Launch your iPhone WhatsApp
  2. Click on the person’s chat that you’d like to stop media files from downloading.
  3. Click on the name of person or group from this chat.
  4. Scroll until you reach the option Save to Camera Roll.
  5. Click ‘Never’.

 

Now, you are free from all the unimportant auto download of media files shared on WhatsApp. But for important files, you can download them manually if you want.
