It is interesting to know that on like siri, google assistant is not only for Android smartphones. in today’s publication, we are going to be showing you how to set up and use google assistant on any mobile device, including iPhone and iPad to the best possible way. read on to find out you can set up and use your Google’s voice assistant 

Google Assistant is a built in Android feature that act as a default virtual assistant for asking questions, getting information, and performing tasks without lifting a finger. Regardless of how, it can also serve the same purpose on your iPhone or iPad. Siri is still more enhanced and accessible on an Apple device, but users with  Google account and personalized settings and info would want to want to try Google Assistant as an alternative.

You can ask Google Assistant to answer series of questions and perform a variety of different tasks which are are going to elaborate more on. Meanwhile, you can ask your google assistant to place a phone call, send a text message, or kick off an email. In addition, you can also ask your assistant  to create a reminder, a calendar appointment, and even a shopping list. Not just that as directions and information on nearby restaurants and other spots, can also be handled by your assistant too. 

Android devices should come with Google Assistant out-of-the-box just like siri with apple devices, nevertheless, you can also download the app from Google Play. The apps requires Android 5.0 oS or later version and the Google app version 6.13 to function. 

How To Configure Google Assistant

To configure Google Assistant on Android,

  • First go to Settings 
  • Next locate Google then click on  Account Services 
  • After which, Search, Assistant & Voice then click on Google Assistant.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, the google assistant app can be obtained from the Apple app Store. You will need to be running iOS 11 or higher on your device in order to use google assistant.

 While on iOS/iPadOS, open the Google Assistant app and tap your profile icon in the upper right, where you will see the all the settings and options.

You can leave most of the settings at their default values, but there are some you could likely  review as follows:

  •  Voice Match lets you train or retrain your voice so that Assistant can better recognize it. In addition, Assistant Voice allows you to choose the type of voice the Assistant will use.
  • Routines gives you the ability to create and combine several tasks and accomplish them with one simple command.

Google Assistant is activated by defaults and thus uses any personalized information already accessible with your Google account, such as addresses, contacts, calendar appointments, and reminders. Nevertheless, you can also review these settings to make sure the details are correct.

To trigger Google Assistant on an Android device, press and hold the Home button at the bottom center of the screen or say “OK, Google” or “Hey, Google.” You can then ask any question or issue a command. To relate your request by text, tap the keyboard and type in your question or command.

iPhone or iPad users will have to open the Google Assistant app in order to trigger the program. At the home screen, you can then tap the keyboard icon to type your request or tap the microphone icon to speak it.

Things You can Do With Google Assistant

1. Make a Phone Call

Like earlier mentioned, you can place a phone call or ask your assistant to call a friend or anyone through the app. Hence doing this the contact has to be on your phone saved or you can just call out the number to your Google Assistant in order to place the call. Meanwhile, The first time you do this Google Assistant will request Access to your phones contact list which you must grant the access. If your contact has more than one number, you will be asked to choose one. The Assistant will display the various phone numbers. Tap Call to dial the number.

If you’d rather want to begin  a video call, tell the app to place a call through your preferred service, such as WhatsApp, Messenger or Microsoft Team. iPhone and iPad users can also place a FaceTime call to any contact with an Apple device. 

2. Send Text

You can tell the Assistant to text someone in your contact list and dictate the text through the Assistant. When you’re done, the app will asks if you want to send the message or change it. The Assistant will then open up your default messaging app for you to send the text. 

3. Create And Send Emails

To email someone, tell Google Assistant to “Send an email to [name of contact].” Dictate your email, and the app will ask if you want to send it or edit it. Say “Send it,” and your message is on its way courtesy of Gmail.

4.  Setup Reminders 

You can again use the google assistant to set up reminders for an events or function.

To do this al you need is to instruct Google Assistant by saying something like “Remind me to see my dentist at 3 p.m.” If you neglect to specify a time, the Assistant will asks you to indicate the specific time. The app shows you the reminder and asks if you want to save it. Say “Yes,” and the reminder will appear on your phone at the scheduled time.

If this is the first time you’re setting a reminder with Google Assistant, the app will prompts you to turn on notifications in the iPhone’s settings screen. You then return to the Assistant, where you’ll have to repeat the reminder.

5. Set Appointment

You can schedule a calendar appointment to add an event to your Google Calendar. Say “Add a calendar appointment with my doctor for March 10 at 2 p.m.” The app asks if you want to save it. Tell it yes, and the appointment is added to your calendar. You can also break down the request into individual parts, and the Assistant will ask you for each detail, such as the date and time.

6. Get Direction Map

You can also access Google Maps through the Assistant. Say something like “Show me directions to Boston, Massachusetts.” The Assistant tells you the best way to reach your destination and how long it may take to get there. furthermore, It will also displays a map of the travel route. Tap the Start button to open turn-by-turn directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze.

You can again ask the Google Assistant to find a local restaurant or spot by saying “Show me nearby restaurants.” and its will show amazing great results. The app serves up the names of local spots to grab a bite. Tap on any restaurant to get more information about it. You can also narrow your search by saying something like “Show me Mexican restaurants within 20 miles,” and the app presents the results.

Other things which can be done using Google Assistant include

News and Weather Reports

Yes! you can also instruct your Assistant to tell the latest news, weather reports, sports scores, stock prices, and other regular updates. 

Play and Tell you the Artist of a Certain Song that might be playing on the background 

Ask it to play music by a certain artist, and it will have you pick a music app to use, then launch the app to play some tunes. You can also play a game with Google Assistant, or even ask it to Google stuff.
