Apple has recently published a new update to it’s Apple Airpod Pro and Airpod 3 with Firmware number 4A402 for the pro version however, the previous version was 4A400 which Apple released in October. Along the release is also a new update to the Airpod 3 as well with firmware number 4B66 from the 4B61 that was previously available.
The tech giants did not relate to the public what’s new or have changed in the newly published firmware updates for the AirPods, so we cannot a certain the improvements or bug fixes the new firmware brings.
Apple Firmwares are always updated over the air while the AirPods devices are connected to an iOS device, hence to update your Airpod you need to insert the AirPods inside its case, then connect it to a power source right after pairing the AirPods to an iPhone or an iPad the update will be ignited after a short period of time.

However, you can confirm to know the firmware version on which your Airpod device is currently on by following these steps:
First, connect your AirPods or AirPods Pro to your iOS device. Then open the Settings app.
Now Tap General >Tap About>Tap AirPods.
You can know this by looking at the number beside the firmware version label “Firmware Version.”
